Sill Plate Shelf

Running for most of the distance in the basement a red oak shelf is installed just over the sill plate.  Added some supports below in addition to nailing to the sill place. Currently cutting pine trim.

Basement Wall Removal and Insulation

Basic plan - remove the old double wall and insulate. 

Closed up from the outside: seen is the original window that is under the front porch. The exterior has tyvek but, like all the wall in the house it is hollow.  

Using a combination of 2" 1" and 1.5" closed cell polystyrene (the pink/purple stuff) and spray foam the empty wall cavities are filled. R value is about 15 and fully water tight. The old cavities ran straight up from the basement to the attic.  

Managed to get drywall from various people so i only had to purchase a couple 4x4 sheets.   

Installed a basic entrance frame to the stable. The kid suggested making our own curtains to cover the entrance.  

After the inside was fully insulated and drywalled, I tackled the dining room bay windows.  Removed the old lumber, plaster, and carpet that were on the outside of the bay. As you can see it is a direct passage between the outside and basement via the space between the floor joists.  

Mudded the drywall seams. 

Filled two large cracks in the foundation.
